STEM Tools at home

There seems to be a growing recognition that education based on high stakes testing is leaving behind a huge portion of what is critical for students to learn. Focusing all of our energy on getting kids to pass a test, instead of teaching them how to analyze and think critically weakens their chances for long term success. However, it’s not hard to incorporate some STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in our every day lives. I subscribe to several of the Reading Rockets articles and newsletters, and it’s important to realize that early literacy should not be separated from STEM education.

Reader’s Theater Introduction

First Reading

I am currently working on a Reader’s Theater similar to the one in the first post of this blog.  Here is the first reading of three of my little stars.  They are reading the introductory information about Davy Crocket, who is the subject of the play.
